Christian Smith has joined Hayes & Yeading on loan in attempt to get some game time.
The midfielder has featured primarily from the bench for the Clarets in recent months and is one of two recent arrivals at Hayes alongside fellow loanee Kadell Daniel, who joins from Charlton.
Smith has made 22 appearances for City this season scoring 3 times, twice of which were form the penalty spot.
Smith’s departure has been met with mixed reactions amongst supporters. Whilst some see it as a sensible move to let Smith get some game time, others have questioned if there is enough depth in midfield to cover his absence, particularly with Lee Sawyer facing 2 games out with suspension from next week and skipper Mark Hughes not far off the 10-booking mark either.
Meanwhile, coach Kevin Maher was named on the bench for this afternoon’s game at Maidehead following Smith’s departure, perhaps highlighting the lack of depth in the centre of midfield.
