Clarets defender Elliot Omozusi has played at the highest level, featuring 8 times for Fulham in the Premier League as well as making over 150 Football League appearances for clubs including Norwich, Charlton and, most prominently, Leyton Orient.
Omozusi was also capped by England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 representing his country a total of 20 times and playing alongside some of the country’s top talents.
I spoke to 29-year-old defender and asked him to name the best 5-a-side team he could come up with from his former teammates and here’s who he picked:
Mark Schwarzer – Fulham, now retired
Amazing shot stopper and came for everything. Always talking and giving information to the back four. As a young lad coming into the side he made it easier for me.
Philippe Christanval – Fulham, now retired.
I played with him at Fulham. When fit he was the best centre-back I’ve played with. Amazing on the ball, strong and quick. He also played for Barcelona which says it all!
Paul-José M’Poku – Leyton Orient (loan from Spurs), now at Standard Liege.
Easily the most skilful player I played with and works extremely hard. I played with him at Leyton Orient when he was on loan from Spurs.
Theo Walcott, England, now at Everton.
Played with him at England youth level. His pace was frightening and had a great finish too.
Bobby Zamora – Fulham, now retired.
Soooo strong and a great finisher. Fantastic touch and technically great.
