When the season ended, most fans were in agreement that there is a core group of players who absolutely must be offered new deals ahead of new season. Top of most people’s list was captain Anthony Church, who today signed a new deal to remain at the club for the 2018/19 campaign.
Church made 38 appearances last season, scoring 6 times as well as netting 5 times in 42 games the season before.
Clarets fans will be hopeful that the likes of Michael Spillane will soon be following suit, with Rod Stringer clearly not wasting any time in getting his squad sorted out ahead of next season.

Max Porter also retained
In additional news this afternoon, the Clarets have retained the services of Max Porter. Porter’s season was largely disrupted due to injury, but after a spell on loan at Maldon & Tiptree to regain match fitness, he returned to the Clarets for the final few games of the 2017-18 campaign.
