Mark Haines has been ruled out for up to 6 weeks with a fractured eye socket, after being on the wrong end of an elbow during Saturday’s 4-0 win at home to Hemel Hempstead.
“Mr Chelmsford” was forced off shortly after the half hour mark but the injury wasn’t expected to be that serious. However, on Sunday evening the Lord of Glencoe revealed the full extent of the damage in a Tweet to former City striker Luke Callander, which you can see here.
The central defender, who is less than 15 appearances away from 200 in a Claret shirt, has been an integral part of the Clarets back line this season.
Marvin Ekpiteta will now step into the fold and take over Haines’ responsibilities in the centre of defence with Yado Mambo.
