*POSTPONED* – MATCH PREVIEW: City travel to Concord Rangers for Senior Cup

** UPDATE **

Tonight’s Essex Senior Cup tie at Concord Rangers has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Aspect Arena.

Chelmsford City Football Club will travel to Concord Rangers tomorrow evening for a Quarter Final in the BBC Essex Senior Cup.

The Clarets have reached this stage in the cup following wins over Barkingside in the third round, beating the Ryman North side 3-5 on penalties, before knocking out Witham Town 3-1 at Melbourne Stadium in December.

Concord Rangers have scored a total of fourteen goals in their two tie without conceding a solitary goal. The Beachboys have had both of their previous ties at the Aspect Arena, thrashing Harlow Town 8-0 before a six-nil victory over Romford.

The side from Canvey Island are still on track to win the trophy for the third consecutive season whilst Chelmsford are looking to win the tournament for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

Clarets Boss Mark Hawkes’ view:

“Concord obviously want to progress like we do. They’ve won it for the last two seasons, they’re currently Essex Senior Cup champions and they want to hold on to that so it’s going to be a very difficult evening for both clubs because both clubs will want to go through. I won’t expect anything other than a very highly competitive and difficult game.”
