Chelmsford City travelled to Wealdstone on Saturday afternoon in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy.

Rod Stringer made four changes to the side who drew at Havant mid-week, with rare starts for Luke Daley and Mark Haines the most notable.

The Clarets didn’t get off to the best start either as the hosts took the lead inside the opening quarter of an hour, when Mustafa Tiryaki fired home to make it 1-0.

City showed the fighting spirit though, and when Stones captain Sam Cox was sent off in the second half, saw the opportunity to get themselves back into the game.

Substitute Shaun Batt, who was seldom featured for City this term, came off the bench to score the equaliser in the 80th minute, connecting beautifully with Danny Green’s well-placed cross in the 80th minute to make it 1-1 and force the replay.

The two sides will now meet again on Wednesday evening (29/11/17) to fight for a place in the next round.
