Stringer’s side eventually see off Avely in friendly
With last Saturday’s game postponed due to bad weather and, unlike other sides in the league, no mid-week fixture this week, the club organised a late friendly against Aveley for the second time this season.
When the two sides last met at Parkside on 19th of December, City emerged comfortable 3-0 winners with goals from Bagasan Graham, Luke Daley and Chris Dickson giving them the win.
This time around, it was a little less straightforward with the hosts, who are currently struggling towards the wrong end of the Isthmian League North table, taking the lead on 25 minutes when Mark Haines scored an own goal to make it 1-0.
City equalised through Phil Roberts on 36 minutes, before Aveley once again took the lead on 41 minutes when Sam Beasant was caught out by a long range effort.
A minute later though, and parity was restored when Jonny Giles finished smartly to make it 2-2.
The turnaround was complete on the hour mark when Chris Dickson netted to make it 3-2 and give the Clarets victory.
