Clarets fail to turn up at Oxford

City fell to their first defeat in six games this afternoon, losing 2-0 at Oxford City.

It was a performance from the Clarets that left many wondering if they’d turned up at all.

The hosts stated their intentions early on and went ahead inside 10 minutes when Sam Nombe struck to make it 1-0.

Rod Stringer made two changes at half time, with Batt and Davies replacing Miles and Oyenuga, but the substitutions had little effect as Oxford doubled their advantage on 50 minutes.

Defeat means the Clarets lose out to their promotion rivals, with others picking up points, most notably leaders Dartford who are now 7 points ahead of the Clarets
