Clarets into consecutive Senior Cup final

Chelmsford City progressed to their second consecutive Essex Senior Cup final with a comfortable 2-0 victory at East Thurrock United this evening.

The Clarets now await the winner of the other semi-final between Billericay and Romford which is due to take place on Thursday 8th February.

Jonny Giles opened the scoring for the visitors in the first period, before Shaun Batt doubled the scoreline in the second half, with the game finishing 2-0.

The win comes as a welcome distraction to the league, where a prolonged dip in form recently has seen Rod Stringer’s side slide down the table and outside the play-off places.

Next up for City is the visit of Chippenham Town in league action this coming Saturday.
