Clarets left frustrated by stubborn Bognor

As we moved into the second month of the season, City hosted Bognor Regis at Melbourne Park, with the Isthmian play-off winners having enjoyed a mixed start to the season, going into the game 10th in the league.

The first was goalless, with an injury to Michael Spillane causing concern as he was forced off in the 17th minutes to be replaced by Ashley Miller at the back. The Clarets had eight corners during the opening 45 minutes, but were unable to break down the Bognor defence, who stood firm.

The second half followed a similar trend with Bognor shutting out the Chelmsford attack. City continued to press on and forced Lincoln into a couple of decent saves, but were forced to settle for a goalless draw.

Despite dropping the points, Stringer’s men remain top of the league with St Albans losing out 3-2 to Gloucester and East Thurrock drawing with Wealdstone.

Next up for the Clarets is a trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday night.
