Clarets pegged back once again

Chelmsford City drew 1-1 for the third time in four games as they were held at home by Hungerford Town.

Bagasan Graham made his third debut for the club, returning to Melbourne Park on loan from Ebbsfleet United.

The Clarets took the lead early on when the returning Michael Spillane fired home in the sixth minute following a knock-down by Chris Dickson.

To hang on for the remainder of the match seemed a task too great for Rod Stringer’s side, as the visitors eventually pulled things level on 88 minutes through Anton Rodgers, son of Celtic and former Liverpool manager Brendan.

The result means City have one just once in the lead since beating promotion rivals Dartford back on the 21st October.

Next week the Clarets will visit Gloucester City, who play their games in Evesham as they look to get back to winning ways in order to keep the promotion dream alive. Before that, the Clarets face a trip to Bowers and Pitsea as they look to retain their Essex Senior Cup title.
