Dramatic late equaliser for City at Hungerford

This weekend saw the Clarets draw 1-1 with Hungerford Town for the third consecutive game as Rod Stringer marked his 100th match as Chelmsford City manager.

A dramatic last minute equaliser from Chris Dickson (or an own goal, depending on who you ask…) saw City rescue a point after falling behind in the first half.

The Clarets were forced into a duo of early changes as Michael Spillane and Phil Roberts both picked up injuries in the first half.

The home side took the lead on 35 minutes when Bignall’s effort evaded the dive of Sam Beasant to make it 1-0.

Hungerford looked to have the points all tied up until stoppage time when Chris Dickson’s effort deflected off a defender and into the net to make it 1-1.

As has happened throughout the season so far, results varied amongst all the teams at the top, including Dartford who lost against Poole, leaving the title race still well and truly open going into the final handful of games.
