Fenwick double helps put Concord defeat to bed
After a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Concord Rangers last week, it was important for Rod Stringer’s Clarets to bounce back with a win when they welcomed Eastbourne Borough to Melbourne Park at the weekend.
Despite the Clarets home form being patchy at best this season, they got off to a good start when Scott Fenwick fired in after just 3 minutes.
Eastbourne were unbeaten away in the league this season, so it was perhaps a shock to them when Anthony Church made it 2-0 before the half-hour mark and Scott Fenwick doubled his tally on 38 minutes.
In what seems to have become typical Chelmsford City fashion this season though, the hosts started to make things difficult for themselves and a second half resurgence from the visitors saw the deficit reduced to 3-2 and pressure being applied.
Thankfully City managed to hold on to grab a vital home win and lift them up to 11th in the table, still way below where expectations dictate.
Next up is the re-arranged visit of Chippenham Town tonight, before a long trip to Weston-super-Mare next weekend.
