Last gasp equaliser robs Clarets of all three points

A last gasp goal from Max Kretzschmar salvaged a point for Hampton & Richmond Borough and denied the Clarets the chance to extend their lead at the top of the National South table.

City still occupy top spot, but with neither East Thurrock United or St Albans playing tonight, the Clarets position is now less than secure.

Rod Stringer’s side got off to the perfect start with Chris Dickson netting the opening goal inside 3 minutes, but the visitors were unable to really push on from their strong start.

Craig Braham-Barret hit the post ten minutes later and a Danny Green free-kick scraped the bar on it’s way over shortly after the half-hour mark, but the score remained 1-0.

The second half saw a shift in play, with the hosts coming into the ascendancy. Hampton push on and the Clarets became pegged back, with the pressure eventually telling in stoppage time when Max Kretzschmar bundled home following a goalmouth scramble to make it 1-1.
