Low-scoring Clarets pegged back again

Chelmsford City’s goalscoring troubles continues as a late equaliser again denied them 3 points, as it did on Tuesday away at Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Today’s opponents were struggling Weston-Super-Mare, who were just 1 point clear of the bottom three going in the game.

As with Tuesday, City again took the lead with Lee Barnard opening the scoring this time.

However, Rod Stringer’s side, who remain one of the league’s lowest scoring side, were unable to double their advantage and a late equaliser from Irnti Rapai saw the game finish 1-1.

It means the Clarets have now drawn their last three games, yet somehow still remain top with St Albans and East Thurrock both dropping points as well.

It’s a quick turnaround for Stringer’s men now however, as East Thurrock United are the visitors on Monday night, before the club’s FA Cup campaign gets underway next weekend at home to Ramsgate.
