Winning run comes to an abrupt end

Chelmsford City’s five match winning run came to a sudden end today at home to title challengers Havant & Waterlooville.

The defeat sees the Clarets fall to fifth in the table, with a 3 point buffer for their play-off position. Things were prevented from being much worse for City due to defeats for St Albans and Truro, but wins for Hampton & Richmond and Hemel Hempstead saw them climb above Rod Stringer’s side into 3rd and 4th places respectively – though the Clarets do have a game in hand over both of these sides.

Chelmsford now need wins in both of their final games away to already relegated Bognor Regis Town and struggling Eastbourne Borough to ensure 3rd place and avoid an extra play-off game.

Anything less than 6 points from the two matches could see City finish as low as 8th and miss out on the play-offs altogether.
